2 Timothy 2: 13 (NKJV) If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.
God is true to His own character no matter what we think at any given time about Him. We can certainly read this verse and say “amen – all those faithless unbelievers don’t get it!” But this verse doesn’t have to be about “other” people. It can be about me too. There have been times in my life when the burden of everything was so overwhelming I thought I couldn’t keep on. But even if I lose faith in myself, God never loses faith in Himself – He has no fear that He won’t have the strength to help me. God never doubts that His word can give me the hope I need. God is never concerned that He’ll miss some detail in my life that could have made all the difference in our relationship. I worry about these things – but He never does. If my relationship with God is based on me and my faithfulness, then there is something to worry about in life. But our relationship, thankfully, is based on His character – and He never fails. Even if I feel like I cannot carry on, I can know that He never tires, He never loses sight of what is important and He swore by Himself that if I turned to Him He would never leave me or forsake me.
