Isaiah 6:8 (KJV) Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”
Oswald Chambers points out that Isaiah actually overhears God ask this question to Himself. That’s an interesting thought, isn’t it? So often we think that Pastors and Missionaries etc. felt the
“call of God” and are somehow special but the truth is all of us as Christians, if we listen, can still hear God say “who will go?” What will you do when you suddenly realize that God is saying this so that ALL of us can overhear Him? Will you, like Isaiah, realize that the “call of God” is really an INVITATION and that if I respond to this invitation I can be part of God’ s business? Every one of us can have a part in the grand plan God has laid out for history. We don’t have to be the Pastor, the Missionary or the special speaker – we just have to overhear His comment “who will go?” and be willing to say “How ‘ bout me? I’ ll go.” We can go with His message to the Sunday school class, to the youth who need a mentor, to the kids who might respond to a puppet show or the person in a hospital or stuck at home. You can “go” right here, right now. Do you hear Him? He’ s still saying “who will go?” Will you?
