Psalm 119: 11 (NKJV)
Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You..
We are a culture of extreme Biblical illiteracy. A majority of Americans own a Bible but have never read it. A majority of Christians have never read the Bible cover
to cover either. One study showed people more likely to be able to name the three stooges than the first 4 books of the New Testament in the correct order. We complain about how difficult it is to read but we have more modern language versions of excellent quality today than ever before in history. Satan has very cleverly convinced us that reading, hearing and memorizing the Bible is a waste of time. I recently spoke to a friend who attended a formerly conservative church only to hear an entire sermon that never quoted the Bible once. The only way to change these sad statistics is to become a people of devotion to reading, hearing, studying and memorizing the Bible. Make a commitment today to memorize scripture. Why not start with Psalm 119:11? Why not start today? How about right now? Start simply –Your word I have hidden in my heart (say it 5 times, then write it down…come on, you can do it!)
